Brussels Airport is the 21st busiest airport in Europe, having welcomed more than 23 million residents through its doors in 2015. The capital of Belgium’s airport schedules flights to many of the countries of the northern hemisphere. In 1958, the airport began operating from where it sits today, taking over flights to and from Brussels from the civil aerodrome of Melsbroek (which is now the Melsbroek Air Base). Since the 1960s, the expansion of the airport increased, with the airport now operating from one multi-storey terminal.
