International Flights from Nigeria Post Lockdown

As you prepare to book your flight, here is a travel checklist of the essential information you need to know, including travel requirements, COVID-19 PCR testing information and which airlines are flying. Start planning your next international flight from Nigeria.

In addition to the normal travel documents, passengers may be required to:

Have a negative COVID-19 PCR test based on

  • the airline you are flying with
  • the country you are flying to
  • the country you may be transiting through to your final destination

Passengers travelling with pets must get clearance from the Nigerian Agricultural Quarantine Services

Face masks must be worn at the airport and on the plane

Pre-boarding

Passengers must present a negative PCR COVID-19 test in their departure country prior to boarding

The PCR test must be within 120 hours before departure and preferably within 72 hours pre-boarding. Test results done more than 120 hours before departure are NOT valid

Passengers must fill out the National Health Declaration Form online and present it on arrival

On arrival, passengers must self-isolate for 7 days

Passengers are allowed to exit self-isolation on day 8, provided they have a negative COVID-19 test result

On arrival

Passengers are required to:

  • Wear face masks
  • Adhere to 1.5 metres physical distancing at the baggage claim areas; in Lagos this may be 1 metre
  • Undergo temperature screening and abide by all entry protocols as stipulated by NCDC and guided by Port Health Officers
  • Wash or sanitize their hands as often as possible

Each passenger must be picked up from the car park, not in front of the airport

Trolleys will be FREE at the airports in Lagos and Abuja

Passengers should NOT loiter in the airport

Passengers flying or transiting to the UK are required to fill in their journey and contact details form online 48 hours before arrival to the UK

The UK does not require passengers to take a COVID-19 test but a 14-day self-isolation period is required

Please note that certain airlines flying to the UK may require a negative COVID-19 test prior to boarding from your port of departure

Passengers are not permitted to enter or transit to the USA if they have entered or transited any Schengen Area member state, the UK, Ireland, China, Iran or Brazil in the past 14 days, unless they are:

  • A national or a permanent resident of the USA
  • The spouse of a US citizen or permanent resident
  • The legal guardian of an unmarried US citizen or permanent resident under the age of 21 years

Passengers are advised to quarantine for 14 days on arrival in the USA. It is important to note that airlines such as British Airways and Virgin Atlantic are not permitted to enter the USA.

Pre-boarding

Take a COVID‑19 PCR test:

If Dubai is your final destination, you must take a COVID‑19 PCR test 96 hours before departure and bring the certificate showing a negative result to check‑in. This includes passengers connecting in Dubai from certain destinations

The test must be taken a maximum of 96 hours before departure

The certificate must be for a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test. Other test certificates including antibody tests and home testing kits are not accepted in Dubai

Bring an official, printed certificate to check‑in as SMS and digital certificates are not accepted. Without a printed negative test certificate, you will not be accepted on the flight

If you are connecting in Dubai:

The COVID‑19 PCR test is no longer required for all passengers – it is only mandatory for those arriving from the following countries or/and when the destination country requires it:

Middle East and Africa: Angola, Rwanda, Ivory Coast, Zambia, Ghana, Senegal, Tunisia, Uganda, Sudan, Egypt, Ethiopia, Somaliland, Tanzania, Syria, Eritrea, Kenya, Jordan, Morocco, Iraq, South Sudan, Djibouti, Guinea, Zimbabwe, Iran, Lebanon, Israel

Europe: Czech Republic, Romania, Montenegro, Malta, Georgia, Ukraine, Greece, Croatia, Cyprus, Hungary, Russia, Slovakia, Moldova

Asia: Pakistan, India, Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Bangladesh, Philippine, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Nepal, Uzbekistan

North America: USA (California, Florida and Texas)

South America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile

COVID‑19 Test exemptions:

Children under the age of 12 and passengers who have a moderate or severe disability are exempt from this test

COVID‑19 testing laboratories:

The UAE government has specified designated laboratories. You can either use the recommended laboratories in the list or any trusted and certified laboratories in your country of origin to get your COVID‑19 PCR test

If you are flying from India, Pakistan or Bangladesh, you must get your certificate from one of the labs listed in the designated laboratories document to be accepted on the flight

At check‑in

All passengers to Dubai, including passengers with a connecting flight, must complete this health declaration form and give it to the staff at check‑in. You can download it now and bring it to the airport with you, or you can complete it at check‑in

During the flight

If Dubai is your final destination, you will need to complete the quarantine undertaking form given to you on board. Give this form to the Dubai Health Authority staff on arrival

On arrival

You may need to take another COVID‑19 PCR test on arrival. If you take a test at the airport, you must remain in your hotel or residence until you receive the test result

If the test result is positive, you will be required to undergo isolation and follow the Dubai Health Authority guidelines

Note that all passengers travelling with Emirates from Nigeria to destinations that require COVID-19 test to be done, must carry a COVID-19 negative certificate issued by a government approved laboratory in order to be allowed on the flight.

Student passengers travelling to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus to register at their universities need the following for entry:

Original High School diploma

Original acceptance letter by the university

Paid tuition receipt

Round trip ticket

Negative PCR test 120 hours before flight. Nigerians are subjected to a mandatory 14 day quarantine.

PCR test and 14-day quarantine fee = TRY 4,110

Ghana (Accra)
  • Passengers must present a negative PCR test taken within the 72 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the first flight
  • Arriving passengers must complete a Health Declaration Form online
  • Passengers must pay in advance for a COVID-19 rapid test to be conducted on arrival in Accra. Payment can be made using cards and the cost is US$150 / GHS 900 / GBP 120 / EUR 140
  • Upon receipt of a negative result (test results take approx. 30-45 minutes to be received), passengers may proceed to immigration
Cote d’IVOIRE (Abidjan)
LIBERIA (Monrovia)
  • Passengers must present a negative PCR test taken within the 72 hours prior to the scheduled departure of the first flight
  • Arriving passengers will be required to register for monitoring via USSD and Mobile App. Learn more here

Country Specific Requirements

Abidjan
  • Passengers departing or arriving in Abidjan must have a negative PCR test result dated no more than 7 days from the date of collection
  • Passengers flying to Côte d'Ivoire who have taken the COVID-19 test will only have to pay the declaration fee which costs 2000 FCFA. Only passengers departing from Abidjan will pay the sum of 50,000 FCFA of which 48,000 FCFA for the COVID-19 test (RT-PCR screening test) and 2,000 FCFA (attestation of declaration) for the declaration. Payment will be made via the online platform
  • All departing, arriving and transit passengers must complete the travel declaration form available online, print it and present it at check-in
  • All passengers will undergo temperature screening
  • If the temperature is above 38 degrees, the passenger will be tested and put in quarantine while waiting for the test results
  • If the test result is negative, the passenger will have to self-quarantine for 14 days under the supervision of the health authorities
  • If the test result is positive, the passenger will be taken to the Infectious Disease Department
  • It is recommended that passengers who wish to obtain their PCR test result within 48 hours go before 10:00 a.m. GMT to the approved sampling centres
  • For passengers departing from Abidjan, the PCR certificates considered as valid are only those delivered by approved sampling centres of the Ministry of Health and Public Hygiene. Among them are:
    • Cocody Saint Jean center
    • Marcory centre
    • The Yopougon BAE center
    • Treichville centre (Infectious Diseases Service)
    • Plateau center, Sorbonne

  • A negative COVID-19 test result is required for all passengers arriving, transiting or departing from Rwanda. The only accepted test is a SARS-CoV 2 Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) performed within 120 hours of departure time. Other tests, such as Rapid Diagnostics Test (RDTs), are not accepted.

  • All passengers arriving from Nigeria are required to have taken a PCR test with a negative result within 0-120 hours before the flight and the document must be submitted to the officials at the entry to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). Passengers are subject to a 14-day quarantine
  • Passengers who do not present a negative PCR test result to the officials at the entry or passengers with PCR test results obtained within 0-120 hours before the date of travel are not allowed to enter the TRNC
  • Children between 0-5 years of age (including 5) are not required to submit a PCR test result
  • PCR tests must be in Turkish or English
  • Please note that passengers departing from Turkey should have the print out of the QR-coded PCR test result document with them at the Ercan Airport and they should submit this document to the health workers upon arrival

  • If the need for the change is necessitated by flight cancellation by the airlines in response to COVID-19, airline penalty will be waived, however, passengers will pay the fare differences, adminfees (if any).
  • If it is a voluntary date change by the passenger and not necessitated by the airline, the passenger may pay an airline penalty, admin fee and fare difference (if any).

This depends on certain factors:

  • For tickets affected by flight cancellation in response to the pandemic, the ticket can remain open within the time frame communicated by the airlines.
  • For tickets not affected by flight cancellation in response to the pandemic, the rules of the ticket at the time of purchase applies.

This depends on if the refund request is made for a booking in response to the pandemic, then rules of the ticket at the time of purchase applies.

This depends on the type of refund.

  • Excess payment, tickets not issued and erroneous transfers into our account can be refunded within 1-2 working days.
  • All other refunds take 8 - 12 weeks and can be significantly longer due to the pandemic.

There is no fixed amount to pay. The amount to pay is dependent on the nature of alteration passengers want to make.

  • If the request is made before 7pm on the same date the ticket was issued and our customer service agent is able to action the request, the ticket may be cancelled and a new booking done on thpreferred airline with the same funds less any additional charges utilized if it is sufficient. If it is insufficient, passengers will be advised to pay the difference.
  • If the ticket was issued the previous day, it cannot be changed to another airline.
