We Are Ready for Lift Off

CAPE TOWN, 19 November 2020 - South Africa’s latest airline, LIFT, has just launched and is ready to take to the skies.

Bookings are open right on time for the festive season with flights between Johannesburg – Cape Town and Johannesburg – George starting on 10 December 2020.

A successful collaboration between Global Aviation, kulula founder Gidon Novick, and ex Uber executive Jonathan Ayache, the team has pooled together some of the best talent to bring its travellers safe, reliable and flexible flight offerings with customer service at the pinnacle. LIFT’s expertise and over 20 years of experience in the aviation industry gives them a competitive edge in the local market.

In this time of jaded travel confidence, flexibility is key. The airline has developed a unique, flexible model where flights and routes can be quickly added based on demand. According to Novick, “the global impact of the pandemic on aviation has presented an opportunity to source inputs at very attractive prices and on a very flexible basis”.

LIFT customers will, in turn, have full flexibility on their tickets, allowing them to change and cancel without airline penalties and giving them peace of mind during this time of uncertainty.

In keeping with its trendy partners, LIFT ground and cabin crew will be kitted out by leading on-line fashion retailer, Superbalist. “We want our crew to look good and feel good at work”, says Ayache. Travellers will also be treated to “proper coffee” from Vida e Caffè on morning flights while afternoon flights will feature premier wine tasting from a selection of South Africa’s top wine estates.

The name LIFT is the brainchild of eight creative South Africans who participated in the country’s largest ever naming competition, where over 25,000 suggested names were received. Other than capturing the marvel of the physics of flying, the name encapsulates a view of the world and our beautiful country. The winners will be enjoying free flights on LIFT and their names will be inscribed on LIFT’s first aircraft.

“2020 has been one of the toughest years ever for so many. Yet we are still here and live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. The launch of LIFT at this crazy time is a statement of optimism for the future of South Africa and its glorious people,” concluded Novick.

Travelstart is proud to be the launch distribution partner and looks forward to a successful partnership with LIFT.
