3. Visit the Al-Masjid al-Haram Mosque in Mecca

No visit to Saudi Arabia is complete without a trip to the Al-Masjid al-Haram Mosque, the sacred mosque, which is surrounded by the Kaaba (a large shrine used as a prayer room).  It is one of the biggest mosques in the world where all the Muslims around the world are mandated to visit for the holy pilgrim at least once in their lifetime. Located approximately 50km off the coast of Jizan in the Red Sea, one of the places on earth where you can explore and discover a unique habitat without another soul in sight. The mangroves, beaches and underwater world are the true stunners of the island, making it a paradise.

Take a dive in the history as you explore the Ottoman fort, historical Village, old mosques, pearl merchant’s homes and coral houses. Another interesting thing about Farasan Island is that you don’t have to pay a dime to visit the island because the Saudi Government offer a free ferry from Jizan for tourists that want to visit the breathtaking place.

King Fahd’s Fountain is the tallest fountain in the world by the distance, reaching a height of about 312 meters (1,024 ft) making it taller than the Eiffel Tower. A dimming orb and a curving jet of water, with a breathtaking scenery that is yet to equal any artificial construction on earth.

In the evening,  it has billion shimmering droplets with the ruddy glow of dying sun that is quite breathtaking.  This fountain is visible from all over the city of Jeddah, so you will surely see it, even if you aren’t exactly looking for it.

6. The Floating Mosque

It is a unique mosque with a complete white exterior, impressive white architecture and huge alleys where -other than offering prayers -you can roam around and enjoy scenic views of the Red Sea. Located on the coast of the Red Sea along Corniche Road in Jeddah, the floating Mosque represents magnificence, elegance, morality and beauty of the Arabian desert.

Don’t miss the enchanting views of both the sunset and sunrise of the Mosque from its terrace, just remember to take your shoes off when you enter, as it’s a sacred place for Muslims. A visit to the floating mosque is quite exhilarating and stupendous with night vision looking very nice and sea watercolour. It is really amazing and magical as the mosque seems to float on the water during the days of high tides.

7. Shop for beautiful Arabian wears.

I understand that this not “free things to do” but who said you can’t window shop for free at the exotic malls? Nigerians love shopping! So, If you will love to buy one of the beautiful Arabian wears, head to the local marketplace, where you can also buy lovely carpet, praying mats, jewellery and decorating accessories. Naturally, you’ll have to haggle if you want to get the best price.
