Saturday, 25th of November was a stupendous day as we scooped the award for Best Travel Blog at the first Nigeria Tourism Awards. In late October, the Nigeria Travel and Tourism Awards 2017 nominees were announced, and after competing against other great Nigerian travel bloggers, Travelstart emerged the winner! The award was presented to the Travelstart team led by Country Manager, Philip Akesson by The Most Famous Twins In African Tourism, Taiwo & Kehinde Oguntoye. This was a great icing on the cake as earlier in the year Travelstart was voted Best Stand at Akwaaba 2017.

According to the organisers of the event, the Award show was developed to reward and recognise excellence for those who have made immense contributions to Nigeria tourism. As the grand finale of the events held during Nigeria Travel Week, the Nigeria Tourism Awards is focused on promoting Nigerian tourism to domestic and foreign travellers. This signified the adoption of the Balearica (Nigeria’s national bird on the coat of arms) as the brand name and symbol for the award. Travelstart’s Country Manager, Philip Akesson and Commercial Manager, Bukky Akomolafe also presented an award for Best Transport Company to God is Good Motors.

The other panellists were Toni Ukachukwu of Afro Tourism, Dikko Nwachukwu of Jet West Airline, Alexander Nwuba of Smile Air, Dr Wolfang Thome of Eturbonews and Mrs Bunmi Archer of Leadway Assurance.
