For many people, visiting Africa is a once in a lifetime experience and making the most of this trip is a top priority. West Africa is a truly unique place to explore endless adventures, and of course, Nigerians can explore it without a visa! So if you are preparing for a vacation to <\/span>countries in West Africa<\/span> soon, here are places that are worth visiting;<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Ghana<\/span><\/h2>\n

Hailed as West Africa\u2019s golden child, Ghana is an ideal destination if you\u2019re looking to relax, immerse in the authentic African culture and learn more about African history \u2013 no wonder it\u2019s called \u2018Africa for beginners.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For a more exciting getaway, visit the country\u2019s capital – Accra<\/a>.\u00a0 You\u2019ll find beautiful beaches (like Labadie beach), luxury hotels and fascinating museums. Don\u2019t forget to stop over at the marketplaces where you can shop African prints, jewellery and souvenirs.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Cape Verde<\/span><\/h2>\n

With an abundance of spectacular views and rich culture, Cape Verde<\/a> is one of the most beautiful <\/span>countries in West Africa<\/span>. Located on the west coast of Africa, it\u2019s an archipelago out in the north Atlantic, consisting of 10 islands and several islets.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

3. The Gambia<\/span><\/h2>\n

Despite being the smallest country in Africa, The Gambia is regarded as West Africa\u2019s best-kept secret. Surrounded by golden beaches backed by swaying palms sprinkled with scenic lagoons, an abundance of wildlife, vibrant history and culture, it offers visitors an opportunity to get in touch with nature.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Gambia has amazing reserves, such as Abuko National Reserve, Gambia National Park and Bijilo Forest Park, where you can see various animals and rare species of wildlife.<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Ivory Coast<\/span><\/h2>\n

Ivory Coast is one of those undiscovered <\/span>countries in West Africa <\/span>– a hidden gem. It\u2019s a country surrounded by picture-perfect palm-lined beaches, offering incredible attractions for visitors. The food in Ivory Coast is incredible. A bite of <\/span>kedjenou<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>poulet braise<\/span><\/i> will have you begging for more!<\/span><\/p>\n

Explore the oldest park in Africa, the <\/span>Como\u00eb National Park<\/b>, where you can see the lions, waterbucks, hippos and other animals frolicking in their natural habitat. It\u2019s an ideal destination for a family vacation.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. \u00a0Nigeria<\/span><\/h2>\n

Dubbed as the \u201cgiant of Africa\u201d Nigeria is one of the most beautiful <\/span>countries in West Africa<\/span>. Its subtropical climate, wide beaches, superb restaurants, excellent shopping malls, exciting craft markets and lively nightlife make Nigeria a year-round destination.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Nigeria will captivate you with its rich and multicultural society. It boasts beautiful tourist spots such as Olumirin Waterfall in Erin-Ijesha, Ife Museum in Enuwa Square, the Olumo Rock, Agbokim Waterfall and plenty more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Senegal<\/span><\/h2>\n

Home to the <\/span>Monument de la Renaissance Africaine<\/span><\/i>, Senegal has come a long way in its fight for independence.<\/span>. <\/span>The African Renaissance Monument, which was built in 2010, is a statue expressing a rebirth of Africa and commemorating Senegalese independence, so be sure to check it out.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Like many countries in West Africa, Senegal is also famous for its food. The Senegalese <\/span>glean their culinary inspiration from far and wide, combining French and North African influences with ancient local traditions. The staple dish for most families is <\/span>thi\u00e9boudienne<\/span><\/i> (fish and rice). You’ll find different variations around the country.<\/span><\/p>\n

7. Togo<\/span><\/h2>\n

Togo is part of the few <\/span>countries in West Africa<\/span> known for its white-sand beaches and perfect scenery. Its <\/span>multistorey Grand March\u00e9 bazaar in Lom<\/span>\u00e9<\/span> (the capital) is also worth a visit, so be a tourist and do some sightseeing. Start with the <\/span>Monument de l’Independance<\/span><\/i> and learn about the end of the colonial rule in Togo. The national museum, the food market and the Lom<\/span>\u00e9<\/span> Cathedral are a must-see as well.<\/span><\/p>\n
