Best time to visit Jeju Island

Jeju Island is a wonderful holiday destination between the summer months, and is pleasant during the colder months of the year too. Summer falls between June and early-September, and can see temperatures of up to 30 °C. It can also get quite humid. Summer on Jeju Island can get really crowded, and you will find the beaches packed with those looking to enjoy their time off. During spring (March to May) and autumn (mid-September – November) you will find plenty of opportunities to do some trail walking and hiking, and also enjoy the numerous tourist attractions that the island has to offer. For cheaper flights and accommodation on Jeju Island, consider visiting during the winter months from November and February.

Jeju Island has the lowest crime rate in all of South Korea, with violent crimes being almost non-existent. As with all top tourist destinations, there is a chance of being pick-pocketed, especially over the busy tourist season.

As for hiking, it is better to go with a guide as many of the signs on the paths are in Korean only. It can also get dark very early in winter.

It is recommended to get your routine vaccinations before your trip to Jeju Island. There are no health travel requirements to enter the country, but is a good idea to get a shot for hepatitis A and typhoid. Please consult with your doctor about this before your trip.
